Maintenance measures on water bodies in Natura 2000 areas for recurring measures in the years 2014 - 2024

The State Office for Flood Protection and Water Management Saxony-Anhalt, River Division Sangerhausen, planned the development of a maintenance plan for recurring measures of watercourse maintenance for the section of the Thyra between the outskirts of Stolberg to the confluence with the Helme.

The objective of this maintenance plan should be, taking into account the priorities:
- Basic clearing in sub-areas, in particular below weirs and bridge structures,
- Timbering in the waterside area of woody plants whose stability is not guaranteed and which are not appropriate to the site,
- Woody plant care,
- Bank and bank protection,
- Planting on water

to draw up a catalogue of measures in order to obtain legal and action security for the annually recurring measures under the current legal basis. In addition, watercourse maintenance today is to be oriented towards the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive (EU-WRRL) and to the development objectives formulated in the current management plans or programmes of measures. The investigation section of the Thyra touches several protected areas of international and national importance. In particular, the requirements of the Habitats and Birds Directive as well as the management plans, if available, had to be taken into account.
