Prior to the redesign, the 2,400 m² large local lake of Schlierbach was characterised by a shallow water depth and a semi-natural development of the lake bed and banks with asphalt and concrete. The aim of the planning was a near-natural and for the population attractive as well as ecologically valuable design of the lake and its banks. The measure was supported by the Verband Region Stuttgart.
