Quality improvement of the outdoor facilities of five high-rise buildings with a focus on the box area. Here, the main problem was the winds close to the high-rise buildings, which were countered with lowered, screened sand play areas and seating areas designed with hedges and concrete cubes to create new recreational qualities. In designing the extensive open spaces between the high-rise buildings, the existing old vegetation structures were first sensitively reworked before a variety of new sports, play and leisure facilities were integrated: an artificial turf field, a streetball field, a ropeway and other playgrounds, as well as places to linger and meet.
The aim was to provide as wide a range of facilities as possible. To determine the needs on site, so-called "box talks" were held with the residents during the planning phase.
