The Hardau city park is part of the ongoing upgrading of the Hardau area as part of the focus on "Quality of life in all neighbourhoods". The "Schoolhouse in the Park" concept was defined in a broad-based planning process.

The use of the park and the use of the school are on an equal footing and merge smoothly into one another. The Hardau city park covers a total of 1.8 hectares. The first stage will be built together with the school building, the second stage on the site of the current car park is to be opened in 2012. The parking spaces to be abolished on this date will be replaced by public parking spaces in the underground car park of the Hardau I development.
A sequence of meadow and asphalt sections spans between the two main development paths running from southeast to northwest. The vegetation structure additionally emphasizes the sequence of the park structure: light, golden-colored larches are assigned to the dark asphalt areas, delicately leafy, flowering black locust trees accompany the meadow areas. The path rails are lined - in addition to the already existing plane trees - by rows of field maple trees.
While the play area of stage 1 receives individual, large wooden decks with seat height, a floating wooden frame is realized in the play area of stage 2, which is supported at seat height and is at the same time a seating, play and surfacing element. The area of the park directly adjacent to the school building serves as a schoolyard for the Albisrieder Platz upper school building.
Special furniture elements give the schoolyard zone additional functionality: benches and table-bench combinations make it possible to spend time outdoors. The schoolyard area receives its basic illumination from the school building. The two east-west walkways are each accompanied by a row of pole luminaires. In the central park area, ground spotlights emphasise the topography of the lawns - the wall elements stand out as illuminated light volumes against the dark asphalt surfaces.
