The town of Winnenden is surrounded by the Neckar, Murr/Bottwartal, Rems and Limes landscape parks. Winnenden wants to make an important contribution to closing this gap with the 'Buchenbachaue Landscape Park', a previously missing building block within the landscape park concept for the Stuttgart metropolitan region. At the same time, the 'Buchenbachaue Landscape Park' is to become a driving force for sustainable urban development in Winnenden. In accordance with the objectives of the landscape park concept, Winnenden would therefore like to preserve, actively shape, enhance and further develop the quality of its Buchenbachaue nature and landscape area. The focus here is on safeguarding and further improving the valuable natural and landscape areas of the Buchenbach floodplain, the development of the Buchenbach itself, the preservation of the surrounding cultural landscape, the long-term upgrading of the area into a local recreation area, as well as the upcoming issues of adapting to the consequences of climate change caused by heavy rainfall events and the increasingly frequent hot summers. The future attractive green and blue infrastructure will therefore have a direct influence on the quality of living and life. The project should represent a high-quality enhancement and networking of a biotope network, while at the same time ensuring the local recreational function of the population. Project ideas for the 'Buchenbachaue Landscape Park' were developed for the application, incorporating ideas and contributions from online public participation, from the participation offer on the city's homepage and during an on-site inspection with interested citizens.
