In the course of the relocation of various railway operation areas, development potentials for urban expansion and redensification along the railway line Pasing - Laim - Central Station in Munich will be released.

In the context of the conversion of the former railway operating areas, new open space potentials of the most varied nature are also being created. New parks and open spaces are also being created on these former railway operating areas in connection with new residential quarters. realgrün landscape architects were able to develop a clear, overarching design for this urban space after winning three competitions.
Building blocks of this open space chain are, in addition to the Arnulfpark, the railway-accompanying pioneer park, the CLZ Jugendspiel, the Postwiese, which will be realized in 2013, and the "Hirschgartenerweiterung", a new park with a focus on youth play.
The development of a pre-park with an expressive independent appearance is design-determining. The clear spatial and design definition of the three park typologies, the deer garden as a classic landscape park - the deer garden extension as a pre-park, an orchard in front of the deer garden and the pioneer park accompanying the railway as a ruderal linear open space establish the overarching urban and open space planning context. The concentration of the required play and sports facilities creates a generous, expansive park image. In addition to large meadows overgrown with fruit trees, which invite visitors to lie down, picnic and play, there is a play and sports platform at the interface with the pioneer park, connected to the promenade linking the neighbourhood. The target group here is young people. Ball game facilities, a climbing wall and the pool skate facility are integrated here and are used intensively.
An important requirement in the planning was to protect the neighboring residential development from noise. For this reason, the actual skate facility is surrounded by a grandstand and the bowl as a screen-like wall. Without the proof of noise protection, this facility could not have been built here.
A neighborhood-connecting promenade equipped with seating and recreational facilities defines the transition between the fruit grove and Pioneer Park.
