In July 2008, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new surgery center of the Klinikum München - Großhadern took place. With 32 operating theatres and 70 intensive care beds, it is Europe's largest contiguous operating centre.
On the outside of the new building, the existing traffic infrastructure is being revised and brought up to the new building.
In the building itself, three large, greened inner courtyards have been created, all of which are underbuilt and partly accessible.
The roof areas were simply intensively greened on the lower floors, while extensive greening was created on the upper areas.
