Between the town of Rottenburg a.d.Laaber and Neufahrn i.NB, a connecting cycle path was constructed in several sections between 2014 and 2018.
In the context of the accompanying landscape conservation planning, issues of species and biotope protection were dealt with, in particular the protection of amphibians and reptiles played a special role in this project.
Amphibian protection tunnels and sand lizard habitats were created, among other things.

In addition, a total area of around 44,000 m² was upgraded in terms of nature conservation alongside the cycle path on several sections. This took place, among other things, in the form of a stream renaturation and creation of biotope network areas.
This made it possible to ecologically compensate for the encroachment and at the same time created a pool of land for future compensation needs in the form of eco-account areas.
The implementation was supervised by the landscape conservation association.
