Bad Urach has successfully applied to host a garden show. The bid was accepted on 30.07.2018 for the realisation in 2027. Kienleplan has prepared the feasibility study and is currently working on a framework plan.

The town of Bad Urach lies at the confluence of the rivers Erms and Elsach at the foot of the Swabian Alb. The landscape is characterised by the valley location, the mighty steep slopes of the Alb ridge with its mixed beech forests, rocks and the two castle ruins of Hohenurach and Hohenwittlingen. The city is part of the landscape scenery of the 'UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Swabian Alb', as well as the 'UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb'.

The planned garden show could, building on the existing spa park and through further city repair measures, be the impetus and motor for an urban development that connects the urban space with the landscape, creates new recreational areas and sustainably improves the quality of life and living in Bad Urach.

The planned modernisation of today's 'Bad Urach railway station' into a 'Bad Urach mobility hub', with simultaneous reorganisation of the existing traffic flows, in the course of the electrification of the Erms Valley railway, can connect and upgrade the town and an entire region.
