The aim of the open space planning is to bring the underpass as a continuous main connection between the lower town of Böblingen and Flugfeld into a uniform design and colour canon as a link between Böblingen railway station and Flugfeld.
The new surface design of the station forecourt unifies the previously heterogeneous appearance of the apron and the adjacent track zone to the north. The central, approx. 6 m wide stairway access to the underpass overcomes the overall approx. 4.50 m height difference.
