A place to stay, for diffusion and connection, a mediation between two street levels and an appropriate design for the newly developed architecture. In Hamburg Bahrenfeld, a square is being created in front of an administration building, which will also be made available for public use in a high-quality manner. The triangular site area overcomes a height difference. This topographically challenging location is traced and graphically interpreted in the design. A generous forecourt area, deliberately delimited from the parking facilities by a wall, is located at ground level on the upper entrance level. As a transition to the public footpath to the south/west, a gently terraced lawn slope connects. A 6 m wide staircase with handrail, which follows the sensible movement sequences, connects the areas with each other and leads to the main entrance. The steps of the staircase become seating steps and are lost in the flat topography. A terraced impression is created.
The linear seating block elements lie in tension with each other and enable the users to find places to stay and meet. Whether sunlit or shaded, secluded or communal, as a stopover or to linger.

To the north, the forecourt area is accented with a diverse light perennial area. Warm tones to support a summer atmosphere are prevalent. Multi-stemmed birch trees are placed in the planting areas and lawn slope. Lightest foliage, light trunks and a golden-yellow autumn colour make reference to the colour scheme of the high-rise building.
The defining material of the forecourt areas is an intermixed brown elongated clinker brick, which provides a subtle vibrancy through its nuance and sheen. In coordination with the architecture, this colouring grounds the square as a pre-zone to the building. In addition, light-colored natural stone seating blocks and steps are set.

Along the north side of the building, an access path with a continuous yew hedge is laid out, which ensures delivery to the neighboring building to the east and provides an address to the street running north.
A garden area on the south side of the administration building provides a retreat and break room for the building's users. Orthogonal terrace areas framed by perennial and grass plantings and accentuated with a few multi-stemmed woody plants keep different recreational areas ready.
The new administration building provides for 2 inner courtyards, which can be used on the one hand for catering or for events. Over mobile bucket furniture on a pavement surface, which reflects the rhythm of the facade again, such a use can be made possible. A 2nd courtyard should form the background for the foyer and also create a green accent in the architecture. 2 raised beds with lush planting characterize the courtyard here.
The creation of a publicly connected bike path outside these garden areas in the south of the property and an infrastructural access is also ensured as part of the project.
