The perception of a city or village image, is essentially determined by its center or old town core and the area of the city and village edges, i.e. the transitions from landscape to settlement.
It is precisely these areas that have long been subject to considerable pressure to change with lasting effects on the inner-city appearance, on our landscapes and settlements and determine every day the attractiveness of the quality of living and life in the direct environment of the people. It must therefore be the primary goal to preserve the still existing qualities, to restore them and to develop them further in a quality manner.
With the design manual, Echterdingen wants to meet this demand and thus presents a fundamental design concept, especially about its 'historical center', which is to serve as a basis and guideline for the further deepening planning, in addition to the urban development framework plan. The goal must be to always keep the big picture in mind. Quality - right from the start.
