The city of Winnenden is surrounded by the landscape parks Neckar, Murr-/ Bottwartal, Rems and Limes. Winnenden wants to make an important contribution to closing this gap with the 'Buchenbachaue Landscape Park', as a hitherto missing component within the landscape park concept for the Stuttgart metropolitan region. At the same time, the 'Landscape Park Buchenbachaue' is to become an impulse generator for a sustainable urban development of Winnenden. In accordance with the goals of the landscape park concept, Winnenden would therefore like to preserve, actively shape, enhance and qualitatively develop its natural and landscape space 'Buchenbachaue'. The focus is on securing and further qualifying the valuable natural and landscape spaces of the Buchenbach floodplain, the watercourse development of the Buchenbach itself, the preservation of the surrounding cultural landscape, the long-term upgrading to a local recreation area, as well as the upcoming topics of adapting to the consequences of climate change due to heavy rainfall events and the increasingly frequent hot summers. The future attractive green and blue infrastructure thus has a direct influence on the quality of living and life. The project should represent a quality upgrade and networking to a biotope network, while at the same time ensuring the local recreational function of the population. For the application, project ideas for the 'Landscape Park Buchenbachaue' have been developed, into which ideas and contributions from an online citizen participation, from the participation offer on the homepage of the city and during a walk-through with interested citizens on site have been incorporated.
