A courtyard-like row of shops with many vacancies and little frequency, as well as a green area that rather radiated the character of a private space or a memorial, formed the initial situation for this planning in Bielefeld.
The central concern was to activate synergy effects in relation to the row of shops by revitalising the square. A local supply focus with quality of stay in the open space as well as the creation of a meeting place in the quarter were the goal.
In addition, the redesign of the open space should achieve a networking of the green spaces
in the district. By a clear structuring of the surfaces and the creation of stay quality by again formed green islands and seat opportunities a place developed, which invites to staying. Light colors and a harmonious integration of the existing bear artwork complete the design.
